Your admission


IOCN offers bedding but prior to admission you must enter through the cloakroom. If your state of health allows, you can walk all the way through the hospital in publicly accessible locations. The downstairs store, with a wide variety of products, is open during the working week from 8 to 16.

Fragile assets

Carefully keep dentures or hearing aids, glasses or contact lenses to prevent their loss. IOCN will not be held responsible for their loss or damage.


To avoid unpleasant incidents we advise you to come without jewelry or other valuables and without large amounts of money.


  • hospitalization (through the Health Insurance Fund):
  • continuous hospitalization or day care (once the admission documents are released, the admission is processed at the request of the consultant) except for the cases when based on objective reasons the medical checkup was carried out without all the required documents (social cases, lack of PIN, case taken in through the EAU);
  • hospitalization (patient supported payment):
  • hospitalization cost is determined by the recommendation of the doctor who decides the admission based on the established diagnosis and a prior consultation with the financial Department;

At this point the patient will receive details on how to get to the clinical wards with beds and the institute’s wardrobe which use is compulsory;

During hospitalization

Doctor visits

Your doctor makes visits every day. It informs you about you health status and treatment evolution. Do not hesitate to ask any question you may have!

Next of kin information

All your information is confidential. Medical secrecy prevents us to give information about your medical condition. However, you can have a written request of a next of kin who may have access to such information.

Informing GP

At your request, any physician can be informed by the medical team about your medical condition and can have access to your medical records.

Services provided in

Once admission formalities completed, outpatient health care assistant or the medical records assistant will lead you to the department or unite appointed to you by the admission doctor. Moreover, the on ward nurses welcome you and show you all the ward facilities that are at your disposal.


Normally a ward has 2, 3 or up to 4 beds and most of them are equipped with bathroom, TV, bed and each have bedside light.
Assigning these rooms depends on your medical condition and availability.
Meal serving
The menu includes five meals a day, designed by a dietician according to your medical condition. The meal schedule is as follows:
  • 8 am - breakfast
  • 10 am - snack
  • 12 noon - lunch
  • 17 hour - snack
  • 19 pm - dinner
If you follow a diet or suffer from allergies to certain aliments, please let us know.
During treatment, it is important to have a balanced diet. If you want to know more about what it should contain your menu after discharge, please see our dietitian.

Dietitian services

At the request of the patient's physician the dietitian provides information on the proper type of diet after discharge.
The diet of a cancer patient must be balanced in terms of calories, but also in terms of content in nutrients, vitamins and minerals.
Thus, the cancer patient's daily menu should contain protein (milk, meat, eggs, fish), fats (milk, meat, cheese, fish) and carbohydrates (grain, flour products, -beans, vegetables, lentils, peas etc.), vitamins and minerals from vegetables and fruit, fresh or cooked.
Diet should focus on more meals a day, three meals and two snacks.

Flowers and plants

The flowers and plants are a source contamination with potentially pathogenic bacteria in hospital. Potted flowers are not allowed in any room of the Institute. For more details, please contact the nurses or the attendant on the ward where you are hospitalized.
